EOTO Project: Drones

     EOTO PROJECT: Drones

Drones are machines that fly around that typically can be used for many different ways and purposes. Drones have been used in wars for different reasons. Some of these include capturing photos, scouting strategies, and to protect bases. A drone can be another set of eyes, which can help protect a base or it can scout the opposing strategies of the other countries. It can also be used in other ways outside of the war. For example, it can be used in many situations that help benefit businesses and organizations. It can get them the shots they need for certain things or the drones can help deliver packages quicker and more efficiently than a normal delivery system could.

Abraham Karem was the man who invented the first drone called "The Predator." The Predator was the invention that sparked the creation of more drones. Karem was a natural enthusiast and started building models of aircraft at the age of 14 years old.  The drone was created in Karem's garage in Los Angeles. The "Predator" was started by a drone technology demonstrator called the "Albatross." The success of the predator changed "military aviation" today. The Predator fired its first missile on October 7th in 2001 over Afghanistan. At that time, the U.S. only had a "handful of UAVS", but now the armed services have nearly 8,000.

Drones have had a major impact on the world and technology today. One of the biggest impacts the drones have had is making the world a more safer place because of the added surveillance and security. Drones can be a safe way to follow criminals or track the perimeter of buildings to make sure that everything is safe and secure. The police also use drones in "car chases" because it reduces the chances of a potential accident. Another positive impact that drones have on the world is that they can save lives.  An example of that is in Minnesota a police drone pilot used a thermal camera to find an 84-year-old man, who had disappeared into a swampy area. If it wasn't for the drone then the man would've been found too late because the weather was too bad to fly an airplane and look for the man.  If you want faster delivery, then drones can also positively impact that and get it to you faster than you would've without drones. Fastery delivery of items and packages is very crucial to the success of many businesses and organizations.

Drones have also had a couple of negative effects to it, but so does a lot of inventions. Some of the negative effects of dronces include, they can be hacked, can be used for the wrong purposes, potentially hurt or harm people, and create lack of privacy. In the wrong hands, drones can be very dangerous and potentially very harmful to people. It's a scary thought to think about if a drone got hacked and how much it could be capable of and how much damage it could create. The question is, does the danger of these drones outweigh the positive impact that they bring to the world?
